The JB-Spo’re Bridge:
Is It A Plain Straight
Or A Crooked Deal?

Before anything else, I have to declare here that I labeled this article as rumors. I have to do this because I hate people branding me as one of those so-called unemployed liars allegedly ganging up to wreck Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad’s administration.

I hope Datuk Seri Zam Maidin takes a special notice of this declaration. Otherwise, he may categorize me as an unprofessional blogger in this country.

[This also depends on whether he knows what he is talking about since an intention to categorize bloggers into professional or unprofessional ones is actually a laughable matter!]

But, please allow me to explain it here. I did checked this rumor with two separate sources of mine in Kuala Lumpur. Both of them told me, this rumor may soon turn to become a reality.

The rumor is about the bridge project in Johor Bahru - the initially straight bridge, which later on became a crooked bridge, before it finally vanished into the thin air!

What about this bridge project? Abdullah has scrapped it anyway, almost one year ago. What is he going to do about it now? To build the bridge again?

If so, why? Does this mean that Abdullah submits to the mounting pressures from the people, especially the Johorians?

Or, does this also indicate that Singapore is now ready to talk again about the bridge issue in return to it getting some other better deals from Malaysia? If this is the case, are the deals going to be plain straight or crooked ones?

My sources said, the construction of “the bridge over troubled water” was expected to resume soon. How soon? Only God knows how soon!

But, one of the sources said, of late, several foreign experts had already gone to Johor Bahru to make site visits to the proposed construction area.

A few weeks ago, MP for Johor Bahru, Datuk Shahril Abdul Samad, made a statement that hinted the Malaysian government might re-visit the bridge project.

Shahril said, Singapore had once stated that it was ready to re-open discussion on the bridge project after 2007. [To read his full statement, please click below.]

http://www.utusan.com.my/utusan/content.asp?y=2007&dt=0423&pub=Utusan_Malaysia&sec=Muka_Hadapan&pg=mh_04.htm

Abdullah’s government scrapped this bridge project on April 12, 2006. Background stories to the cancellation are very lengthy and plenty - full of contradictions, mysteries and controversies.

So, if the bridge project is to be implemented again, the Sultan of Johore will surely be one of the happiest persons to receive this news.

Next, is definitely Tun Dr.Mahathir Mohamad. Then, come the Johorians and other concerned Malaysians.

I hope, if this rumor is true, the Malaysia government will be transparent enough as allow the rakyat to share the reasons for the re-construction of the bridge - straight or crooked.

Malaysians need to be informed whether the proposed re-construction of the bridge is pegged with other deals with Singapore, including the possible export of sand, soil and granite to the island republic in the immediate future. – Ruhanie Ahmad

Datuk Ruhanie
salaam

Saya suka kata-kata pujangga ini walaupun saya tiada mengertinya:
"dumbing down of the masses"

Bung,

One thing for sure, most Johorians are not like Ijokians. Even to compare Johorians with ijokians may also be improper especially after i read www.politica-net.blogspot.com which suspected some kind of rigging was happening there. I don't know if it is true.

But, Johorians and UMNO or the ruling party for that matter, are but one - inseparable. Why? UMNO kan dilahirkan di bumi Johor.

With regard to my posting on the bridge, Johorians wanted the bridge. They wanted Selat Teberau to become an international passageway from Pasir Gudang Port to Tanjung Pelepas Post and vice-versa.

There are many strategic reasons why the causeway must go. That is why my DYMM Sultan murka sikit bila jambatan tu tak jadi dibina.

If you think this rumor about the bridge project is to be continued can be regarded as gula-gula to the Johoreans before the general elections, you may be right. But, if it is true, why not? As I have said, we see the strategic reasons behind the bridge project.

Eh.. tak payahlah panjang-panjang lagi. I know that you also know why.

Pasal keresahan perancangan yang tak jalan lancar, itu kawan kurang periksa [jargon orang Johor, maksudnya kurang arif mengenainya!] Terserahlah kepada rakyat untuk menilainya.

Salam takzim,
Ron

Bung Ruhanie

Cemerlang, Gemilang, Terbilang!
Abdullah biar lagi 3 tahun pun hilang! Ameeen.

ZAM jangan marah saya tukar-tukar rumors sama YB Ruhanie 'kaki gossip'. Saya suka baca tabloid, ZAM. Dan berkawan dengan paparazzi.
ZAM itu pintar cuma buat-buat bodoh, rumorsnya.

Ma'a salaam.

ps
Di Ijok Khir Toyo tak bagi jalan, itu syarat besar dan diakui oleh Abdullah di kaca TV pada hari Jumaat. Juga rumors. Khir Toyo under siege pun rumors. Saperti Tan Sri Khalid kecil jiwanya.
Pukau itu dongeng Jawa.

Salaam hormat saya juga kepada YAB Menteri Besar Selangor Darul Ehsan
